Durgapratap Sinh Sisodia

Durgapratap Sinh Sisodia is the Maharaj of Pratapgarh, an erstwhile kingdom in Rajasthan. He was very young when his father's kingdom merged with the Indian Union in 1947. The transition from being a Prince to a commoner was an experience he had to live with. He grew up in a changing India, schooled at the Rajkumar College; a school for Princes and then the University of Poona for his under graduate degree in Economics. After graduation he travelled extensively around India photographing the temples, palaces, forts and miniature paintings before he left the shores of India for his post graduate studies. He went to America and graduated from UCLA in California. At a very young age he was fortunate to have traveled around the world. He came back to India after his studies and decided to settle down. In 1986 he met Sir Edmund Hillary, the New Zealand High Commissioner to India, who invited him to take up residence in New Zealand. He decided to take the plunge and was the first Indian to be granted a business migration to New Zealand. With his roots being in India and having travelled and lived in the western world, he, along with his daughter and nephew decided to share their heritage and have people from different parts of the world experience a world of Royalty which today one can only dream of.
